We know that the loss of a loved one following a Fatal Accident can be one of the most traumatic events imaginable. As well as grieving, you most probably have additional worries about how you will cope financially – and of course you may still be searching for answers about the incident itself.

At BRM Legal we have a team of Fatal Accident experts who can guide you through this extremely difficult time and ensure that you have the information, support and financial confidence you and your family will need.

Get the compensation you deserve

Whilst money may be the very last thing on your mind, BRM Legal will ensure that you get the compensation you deserve – and the financial security you need to cover the additional expenses you may be facing such as:

• Funeral costs
• Medical expenses
• Loss of benefits
• Additional household expenses
• Childcare costs
• Counselling

We can help you whether your loss occurred as a result of:

• A road traffic accident
• Medical negligence
• An accident at work

Even if the accident happened under unusual or unclear circumstances we will provide you with expert legal representation at the inquest and will assist with any interpretation required – e.g. in digesting documentation such as the coroner’s report. What’s more, we’ll seek to uncover the facts, find out who was responsible and obtain reassurance that the same thing will not be allowed to happen again.

Making a Claim

How do I make a claim?

Simply by contacting us at the first opportunity. We understand that this is a very difficult and confusing time, however the earlier we speak, the easier it is to capture all the details of your case and start working towards receiving your compensation.

In our initial free consultation we will provide you with all the information you need to pursue your claim and will explain to you how you can proceed on a NO WIN NO FEE basis*.

We will go on to gather the evidence required to support your case and will seek a settlement from the responsible party, taking into account all of the additional costs you are incurring (e.g. medical costs, extra childcare, rehabilitation, travel to appointments etc.).

As well as answering any questions you may have and confirming the validity of your claim, in our initial, no-obligation call, we can also give you an indication of the kind of compensation payment you may be likely to receive.

What will it cost to pursue my claim?

BRM Legal know that at such as stressful time you do not need the pressure of further financial commitment. For this reason we are happy to take on your case on a No Win No Fee basis. This means that you will incur no costs unless your claim is successful*.

Even when you win your case, the majority of your legal expenses will be paid by the other side and any other costs will simply be deducted from your total compensation amount.

*Please note: This is subject to a No Win No Fee agreement having been signed with us (in conjunction with our insurers) and the terms of that agreement having been met by both parties.

How long do I have to make a claim?

The general rule is that a claim must be made within 3 years of the Fatal Accident. Where initial cause of death was uncertain, the time limit starts when it was first realised that the death of your loved one was as a result of the accident.

In cases where the accident occurred abroad, there may be a shorter period within which you need to submit your claim (depending on local laws) and our experts can offer guidance on this.

How long will it take to receive compensation?

This depends on the individual circumstances of the Accident, whether the other party involved accepts fault and ultimately, how complex the case becomes. Our aim will always be to reach an out of court settlement, but should we have to undertake court proceedings we will make sure that we do so armed with all of the facts, and a clear picture of what additional costs have been incurred as a result of the death of your loved one.

Our dedicated team will keep you updated throughout the process and tell you exactly how your case is progressing and what the likely final compensation figure might be.
